Their names were Helen Shucman and William Thetford, Professors of medical psychology at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. Helen was surprised to find herself following the words of an Inner Voice, and writing them down. Bill was later to type the words. The Course begins: Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God. The Course makes a fundamental distinction between the real and the unreal;
